Graduation Memorial Blood Donation Program Unites Students

On February 19, 2025, the Kumoji Blood Donation Room in Okinawa witnessed a heartwarming display of unity and generosity as students and teachers from IT College Okinawa came together for the “Graduation Memorial Blood Donation Program.” The event, organized by NBDAJ to promote the spirit of giving, saw enthusiastic participation from both Japanese and international students, as well as faculty members, all united by the shared goal of saving lives.

The program’s theme, “Anywhere, Anytime, Anybody Can Donate Blood,” and “Share Blood Save Lives” emphasized the importance of blood donation as a simple yet impactful act of kindness. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the critical need for blood donations and to encourage more people to contribute to this lifesaving cause. For many participants, the event also served as a meaningful way to commemorate their graduation, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and community service.

The atmosphere at the Kumoji Blood Donation Room was filled with positivity and camaraderie. Students and teachers alike lined up to donate blood, with many first-time donors expressing both nervousness and excitement. Medical staff were on hand to guide participants through the process, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

One of the event’s organizers, a senior student at IT College Okinawa, shared, “This program is not just about donating blood; it’s about coming together as a community to make a difference. We wanted to show that anyone, regardless of nationality or background, can contribute to saving lives.”

The participation of international students added a unique cultural dimension to the event, highlighting the universal nature of humanitarian efforts. For many, it was an opportunity to connect with their peers and give back to the local community that had welcomed them.

The Graduation Memorial Blood Donation Program was hailed as a resounding success, with organizers reporting a significant number of 26 participants and 12 blood donors. Most of the international students were not able to donate blood due to not meeting the criteria of Japanese Red Cross .We presented all the donors THANK YOU card.

As the participants left the donation room, they carried with them a sense of pride and fulfillment, knowing that their contributions would make a tangible difference in someone’s life. The event served as a powerful reminder that small acts of kindness, like donating blood, can have a profound impact on the world.
